I have worked with Stacey on several of my projects including my upcoming film, ‘The Man in my Basement.’  I also worked with Stacey via Setting Your Stage on my most recent return to Broadway for the Tony Award winning revival, TopDog/Underdog by Suzan-Lori Parks. Our work not only covered, but went beyond the technical needs, demands, and the rigor it takes to thrive doing 8 shows a week on Broadway. Stacey and I are both Juilliard trained artists, but our work together was a beautiful reminder that the grind and effort never stops. From detailed text analysis to being a solid ear for character ideas and questions, Stacey was there at every step. One of the greatest gifts was her ability to find creative ways to explore and illuminate the unique value of the text and how that added to my work. I was extremely happy that we were able to bring Setting Your Stage onto the TopDog/Underdog team. This work not only led to a successful run, but more importantly one of my most fulfilling theatrical experiences. I look forward to working with Stacey and Setting Your Stage for again.

Corey Hawkins,

Two-Time Tony Award Nominee (TopDog/Underdog, Six Degrees of Separation)

This work not only led to a successful Broadway run, but more importantly one of my most fulfilling theatrical experiences.

Bay-bayyyyy Working with Stacey as I prepared for MFA auditions was a game changer for me. I knew that I wanted to work with someone who had gone through or knew the process of auditioning for drama school specifically and Stacey was that person for me. Stacey helped me dissect my monologue in a way that I’ve never been taught before until then.  Not only did she take the time to get to know me and my work, but she also suggested other pieces that she felt would show different sides of me; along with a spreadsheet of play materials. Interestingly enough, the pieces that she felt would best suit me were the pieces the panels kept asking for!

My first year of auditions, I received callbacks from Yale, Juilliard, NYU and Brown resulting in an offer from Brown and getting waitlisted for Juilliard. My second year, I went to callback weekend for Yale, NYU and Juilliard and received offers from both Yale and Juilliard! I genuinely know that I wouldn’t have gotten far without Stacey’s guidance and knowledge. She cares deeply about her clients and bringing their full selves to the work. She is gentle yet direct in bringing that out of you and gives you the space to reflect while also being a support system.

Auditions for drama school have been 10 years in the making for me so I knew I wanted to invest in myself and not regret anything. If you are looking for a coach that is kind, gentle, direct, patient and goes above and beyond, she is that person! I recommend her to everyone that asks about coaching because the results are there! I’m so thankful to have Stacey by my side and even more proud that I’ll be literally walking through the same halls she did. #JuilliardGang

Naturally, coaching lends a pair of eyes, knowledge, experience separate from yours that assists with any stone that might have been left unturned or stones that your eyes are yet equipped to see. My experience with Stacey Scott followed this standard. Stacey challenged my imagination, required me to see not only the people I spoke to but the environment and their relationship to the environment, relative to mine. Rather than dictate choices that I should make, she challenged me to use my imagination and follow impulses into making choices I had yet to consider. Sometimes the choices remained, sometimes they were modified, other times they were discarded but irrespective of what was done with those choices, they led to another discovery, consideration or impulse. Working with Stacey, I often had to tear myself away from intellectualizing or contemplating things that ought to be put into motion. I had to give myself permission to let go. It was challenging and precisely what I needed!

Stacey is incredible to work with! Not only is she phenomenal at what she does, but the care and attention she brings to the work is what stands out most to me. She is truly a rare jewel of a coach and has helped me to elevate my work and process. I’m beyond grateful to have her on the journey with me.

I grew a ton by working with Stacey! She kept me honest in all my audition pieces, helped me find a way forward whenever I felt stuck, and brought my pieces to another level. I came away from coaching sessions with insights that changed the way I work as an actor significantly.

Working with Stacey to prepare for my MFA Acting auditions was an empowering experience. She thoughtfully guided me in selecting monologues that highlighted the different sides of myself I wanted to showcase. She helped me build the confidence I needed to enjoy the process, and her dedication to my growth as an actor made all the difference. I entered each audition feeling prepared, grounded, and excited to share my work. I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor on this journey!

I remember receiving an email from Stacey at six a.m. on the morning of my Juilliard audition. She knew how much the opportunity meant to me and made sure that I knew I was enough before I walked into the audition room. That memory is something I’m very fond of and is one of the many ways I could express how remarkable it is to work with Stacey. Her coaching style is honest and specific, and I felt that I walked away from every session having gained not only a deeper insight for my pieces, but a clearer sense of my artistic identity, as well. I was constantly being checked on throughout my journey. I had numerous questions about picking the right material, how to approach the material, how I should write my artistic statement, if I was headed in the right direction, and so many other fear-ridden curiosities that they patiently guided me through. When I didn’t feel like I was enough, Stacey would stop and listen. She understands the value of being a generous actor, she also infuses that spirit of generosity within their teaching, and the evidence is laid bare within the inviting, challenging, and highly supportive environment of each session. It’s hard to find trusted sources who are not just interested in commodifying your potential successes for personal gain. Stacey is highly skilled, deeply compassionate, and immensely understanding. She is more than just a good coach; she is a good person. I would recommend to anyone I know.

At the time I met Stacey Scott, I had just been rejected from Juilliard’s MFA in Acting 2023 auditions. I was feeling low, despondent and afraid of the journey consisting of eight further MFA auditions that lay ahead. She saw me at my lowest and yet, saw a light inside of me. With absolute care and sincere interest in my goals, ability and process of growth, Stacey committed whole heartedly to strengthening the quality of my four monologues and in turn, prepare me to the best of our ability to feel ready for the journey ahead and help bring back my self confidence as an actor.

Stacey's personal approach to her teaching was the key factor in this. From the get go, she asks genuine questions; “what does this piece make you feel?”, “who are you talking to?”, “why are you talking to them?”, “what do you see?”. As we probed these questions together in our sessions, Stacey guided my imagination, and connected the intentions of the pieces directly to an authentic feeling inside of me. The success of this was due to not only Stacey’s brilliance as both an actor and a coach but also the safe, warm and experimental environment she created - even through the Zoom medium.

Amongst the seriousness came playfulness, out of Shakespeare’s diction came my own contemporary voice, and through the personal connection that we formed, we were able to work as a team to create the best possible work. The four monologues which we worked on gear detail were given the chance to be stripped down in order to develop them exponentially. Stacey provided me with outstanding technique during our coaching sessions and most importantly, utilized it to ensure that I understood the work.

Combining all these skills that Stacey gifted me with and the confidence she helped me regain through her generosity of spirit, I was able to forge ahead in my further auditions and be accepted to two programs; The Actor’s Studio Drama School’s MFA in Acting at PACE University in New York City and Stella Adler’s 3-year Professional Conservatory. Out of the dark came the light, and her name was Stacey.

For any prospective MFA in Acting auditionee or any actor for that matter, I cannot recommend Stacey enough. She is more than just a coach; she is your cheerleader and kind friend throughout the stressful  process. Thank you Stacey for helping make my dreams come true!

The gratifying experience I have felt from working with Stacey is truly special. In the time that we had to work together Stacey challenged me as an actor but more importantly as a human being. She has such a loving and warm personality that makes you feel safe and welcomed when working with her. Stacey constantly leaves room for inspiration while also asking the questions that really make you think long and hard about what it is that text is saying. She challenges you to dig deeper and find certain things you didn’t even know were there. The breakthroughs and progress that we saw in my work were extremely gratifying and were a testament of how great Stacey’s coaching is. If it weren’t for working with Stacey I don’t believe my audition experience would have been as grand and I wouldn’t have been as ready as I was going in. Not only did Stacey help me become more of a multi-dimensional performer, but she also helped me navigate the ins and outs of the audition process. Stacey goes above and beyond for her students while also making sure they have the tools to be exceptional. I was never asked to be anything else but myself in the time we worked and for that I am truly grateful. The only thing I wish I had was more time to work with her because in doing so I can feel myself getting closer and closer to my objective. I am more than satisfied with what I got out of working with Stacey and would most definitely recommend her to any of my fellow actors. She knows exactly what she’s doing and does it from the heart. Thank you so much Stacey!

When I began preparing for the 2022 MFA audition season, I was extremely apprehensive and unclear as to how I was going to approach it. I needed some guidance and some affirmation as I went through the messy work of refining my pieces, and Stacey Scott was the perfect person to help me. She was a firm, supportive presence who was never shy to tell me the truth and gave me the tools to work through creative blocks. I trusted her not only to show me where I could be better, but also to help me figure out the artistic story I was trying to tell. Stacey was even present after the auditions were done to help me think through next steps. I genuinely do not know what I would have done without Stacey's help, and I feel so lucky to have gained such a radiant and generous mentor and friend.

I am extremely grateful and blessed to have had such beautiful and beneficial coaching with Stacey. Right from the first 10 minutes of the initial session, Stacey had already begun to dive deep. Even when I was doubtful in the work I was presenting she always encouraged me to discover it for myself. It was difficult and hard at times but having Stacey guide me was a gift. I would highly recommend Stacey for high quality coaching and guidance!

I strongly believe anyone with varying degrees of acting experience would benefit from this coaching. I came into this green and I learned so much. It's sincere and honest. Hilarious. Vulnerable. It's eye opening. It's emotional. And it's a journey. And you don't want to go on such an important journey with just anyone, it's not an easy one, so you want someone with you with a keen eye that knows exactly what to say to get the results that'll help you move forward. Stacey is rooting for you and she will be someone who will do as much as she can to help you succeed. The very first coaching session we had, she recognized that I picked a monologue that did not showcase my strengths or who I really was. She saw that I was hiding myself behind a facade of what I thought I was supposed to act like. She found material that was close to me, my background and knowledge, and we ended up connecting on a level that I didn't think we would. Those were the monologues I ended up auditioning and got into drama school with! I did that while still being myself. She's a contact I'm so grateful to have.

Stacey is such a joy and wonderful person to be around, I am so thankful I met her. I’ve had so many breakthroughs during my sessions with her! I sought out coaching to see if it would help me be a better actor and wow. Personalized coaching is such a game changer, it’s addictive to be able to see yourself getting better in real time. I love working with Stacey because she works with me where I am, and is always encouraging me along my artist journey. She has helped me so much in acting - I’m always hearing her voice asking me to go deeper in specific ways. She has so much pragmatic tangible advice for how to make my performances more realistic, more vibrant, more alive. She has coached me to “see” what’s in the room, what’s beneath the surface, and what’s out of sight. It’s given me so much confidence to be able to ask her any question or bring up any concern, and she has always treated me like an adult and answered me with respect and encouragement - even if I am early along on my journey to becoming an actor. She has changed my life and my perspective on acting, and what a coach should be. She raises the bar for mentorship.

I worked with Stacey as I prepared for my MFA audition, and her coaching really transformed my work on the pieces. Prior to coaching, I was working mostly on my own, rehearsing in an empty room, maybe taking some notes on the text and chunking off ideas.

Stacey allowed me to take my sense of play and specificity to the next level. She provided a number of really clear exercises and insights to break down the text and return to my own personal experience and imagination. Her training as an actor clearly allows her to jump into any text with some fundamental questions, and dig into a student’s work with effective, universal tools to bring the piece to life.

After six sessions with Stacey, I could see how my work had grown progressively and had built on each prior session. We spent one session working on each of my four monologues, and then a couple reviewing our work on all four pieces, and then mock auditions and interviews.

Stacey’s energy and warmth was what drew me to her as a coach in the first place. She has a very natural understanding of the emotional life of a text, and finds fun, accessible ways to guide a student through the process of unearthing it. I really had a lot of fun in our sessions, and I looked forward to seeing how she would push me or tweak our work in a different direction.

One really powerful gift that Stacey gave me was encouraging me to bring my own unique “zhuzh (energy)” to the pieces, the quirks and impulses that made me excited to embody these characters. She helped me to strike a balance between living in the emotional truth of a piece and also finding new ways to play and let go of my preconceived notions. I would 100%, 1000% work with Stacey again on another audition! Her contributions were invaluable to my process and to my growth heading into a stressful audition season. I felt incredibly prepared and calm as a result of our work together and of her investment in me as an artist.

Stacey Scott is simply amazing. Stacey's guidance and coaching was instrumental in my acceptance to CalArts. Stacey has a knack for making you feel comfortable and allowing your true superpower of vulnerability to shine. Her kind words of affirmation strengthened my confidence and made me feel like anything was possible. From dissecting a scene and its action, obstacles and expectations to looking at the highs and lows of the atmosphere during a scene. Stacey understands how to create a compelling story that is personal to the actor yet stays true to the script. Stacey is kind, warm, caring, funny and above all a phenomenal coach and actress. Stacey reminded me to have fun, play and to focus on the process not the outcome. Stacey equips you with the tools you need to reflect upon your work after your sessions are over and improve upon what was done before. This is invaluable as an actor. Stacey is more than just a coach. She is a mentor and friend. I cannot thank her enough for everything she has taught me as an actor and as a person. I couldn't recommend her enough!!

I was fortunate to work with Stacey as part of my grad school audition preparation. Although We only had two sessions together, I was so impressed with the level of care and detail with which she approached the work, that I did not hesitate to direct a friend her way when she needed an extra layer of polish on her own work. One of the qualities that sets Stacey apart is her ability to balance her warm and inviting nature (which eased me into the process) with her meticulous unpacking and reconstruction of the work (which ensured that the work I walked out of our sessions with was miles ahead of when we had begun). Her generosity of spirit is also another characteristic that is impossible to miss when working with her. She wants to see you win! (Whether that means getting into school, booking an audition, or walking out as a more skilled actor/storyteller.) Stacey once told me that I did not need to reach outside of myself to portray a particular character I was struggling with, but to invite and embrace the entirety of who I was. Truly engaging that idea helped transform me from an actor portraying a character to a real person sharing a moment in her life.

When I auditioned in 2023 for grad school, I didn't get the best results like I wanted. After taking a few months to reset and re-evaluate, I went to Stacey for coaching for the 2024 audition season. And let me tell you!!! I got 4 offers including Actors Studio At Pace University!

Stacey is very intentional, thoughtful and loving throughout the coaching process. She led every session with grace and precision. She helped pick the right monologues for me that would leave the schools wanting to see more. Most of all Stacey helped find, and tell the TRUTH, which is why I believe my audition season was such a huge success this year. This not only helped me as an actor but as a human being as well. It's truly a spiritual experience. Her unique techniques and tricks are still being used today when I step into a rehearsal room. If you are not booking with Stacey, I don't know what to tell you!!! Don't sleep on her!!!

Stacey is a very special coach. She knew exactly what to say to challenge me, to open me up, or reel me back in. She made Shakespeare fun. She helped me finalize my pieces. Stacey has been an invaluable part of my growth as an actor. I started with almost no formal training and experience when I first worked with Stacey and she ensured that I never felt like I was anything less than an artist. She has given me the full capacity, just like everyone else: to enjoy, learn and play. Stacey was encouraging yet stern when I needed it. She is generous but efficient. She has a plan for your growth but allows your personal development to dictate the process of how she nourishes your artistry. Stacey also has the ability to change the temperature of any room she is in and if you pay close attention and work hard, she has the osmotic powers to transfer it to you - if you let yourself free and share yourself openly. Ultimately, I have developed greatly from my sessions with Stacey and I will always be grateful for the support she has given me throughout the audition process from Round 1 auditions to callbacks.

To say that Stacey has helped me grow immensely as an actor would be a huge understatement. It is very rare that one comes across a mentor that not only guides you every step of the way throughout the grueling audition process, but also acts as a much needed confidante and friend.

Stacey gave me a newfound confidence not only as an actor but as a person as well. Her evident skills and talent as a brilliant actress were made known through her coaching. She knows how to bring out authenticity, and manages to bring out uniqueness and abandon each of her students through hard work, attention to detail and discipline, which is exactly what these schools look for.

Stacey would also check up on me to see how I was doing because this obviously isn’t just a job to her. She genuinely cares about the growth and wellbeing of her students which made me respect her even more. I would highly recommend anyone turn to Stacey for help if you are interested in audition coaching or even if you simply just want to grow as an actor. The skills and knowledge I have gained because of her are unparalleled and will stick with me forever.

Over the course of three months Stacey pushed me to grow as an artist. From day one, Stacey extended herself in a way that made me feel so supported. I worked with Stacey on MFA auditions in the fall of 2022. Working on my craft with Stacey was utterly unique and a great privilege.

Reflecting on my experience coaching audition monologues with Stacey, I am immediately struck by two MAJOR things: 1.) How she was most interested in connecting to who I was and what I wanted to do and say as an artist. Say that to say, Stacey recommended pieces for me to work on that somehow felt as though they were written specifically for me (including ones I had previously read and overlooked), and 2.) How I never left a coaching session feeling unfulfilled or as if it was a waste of time/missed opportunity.

Stacey has a keen sense of picking up on where you are at in the moment, and finding a way of working that will best suit you in real time. This is VERY important - I never felt as though I was throwing in the towel when I was hitting a wall, but rather honing in on technique to build a new door through that wall.

I still use the pieces Stacey handpicked for me to this day, and I would recommend any artist at any stage of their career to embrace the chance to play with her!

What I’ve noticed about my sessions with Stacey is that when they are over I don’t just feel more prepared as an actor, I feel lifted as a person. Her skills as a teacher combined with her enjoyable energy  create an ideal environment for an actors preparation, progress and discovery. I can always count on her eagle eye to detect the amount of details and depth in my work. She is keen at enriching and supporting my journey both when I’m on the right track and when I need help finding a clearer way to truth and connection in my work.
